Glossary
Active travel – strategies to increase the number of local journeys being walked, wheeled or cycled.
Green infrastructure – a network of multi-functional green space and other green features, urban and rural, which can deliver quality of life and environmental benefits for communities (Source: TCPA)
Passive surveillance – use of windows and active frontage overlooking streets and public spaces can improve personal safety when walking or wheeling.
Urban greening – the process of adding green spaces and elements into urban environments and infrastructure e.g. parks, trees, green walls and roofs
Walkability - the extent to which the physical environment supports and encourages walking.
